Links

Over at ProBlogger.net, Darren Rowse has a post titled Link Lust which asks "Which 3 Blogs or Websites would you most love a link from?" [Update 05/11/2006]Credit should be given to the Link Leak Virus and to BlogTipping for the wonderful idea!

My answer, which you can also read in his comments, are as follows:
My top three picks aren’t so much for the traffic they’d generate, but because I really admire the people who run them:

ASCII by Jason Scott - Jason directed The BBS Documentary and runs Textfiles.com and a ton of other related sites. If I could relive one period of history, it would be the BBS era. Jason’s sites (and excellent documentary) help me do that.

A Day in the Life of an Information Security Investigator - This is a field that I am extremely interested in, and Security Monkey does an *excellent* job of entertaining as well as educating.

Wil Wheaton dot Net - Wil seems like such an average Joe for an actor who “used to be famous.”

So what would your three be?

Technorati tags:

Hi Wintermute,
Thanks for adding me to your blogroll.

I hadn't really thought about who MY three would be until I read your post. Now I'm going to hide them here.

Doc Searls because he's authentic, intelligent, and doesn't give a damn who agrees with him.

Tom Peters because I've always admired his world view and his business sense.

Dave Berry because he's a writer's writer and knows how much work being funny really is.

I'm thinking you'll be getting some traffic from this comment over the weekend -- I have a mischievous idea.

Successful Blog

You're welcome. The blogroll uses a script that I hacked together awhile back to show the most recently updated blogs from my Bloglines blogroll, so don't be too shocked when you disappear and reappear on a regular basis :)

Sorry I didn't credit the Link Leak Virus. I was unaware of it until I found the update to the post on Problogger.net. Unfortunately, it was a bit late last night when I discovered the update, so I haven't had a chance to update the post. I will, though, to help spread the love :)

Not a worry. There are plenty of links in the world to go around for all of us. You should even blink about it. :)

Thank you for your thoughtfulness.
Liz

Hmm... possibly performancing, problogger and steve pavilina's blog.

Although Darren did actually link to me once which was nice... :)

You're welcome (again). But it really is just credit where credit is due.

I'm glad you've joined the link love movement. Join Liz, me and others for Blogtipping Day on June 1st!

I don't know enough famous bloggers to make a dream list, but I do like the following blogs...

http://www.autoblog.com
http://mojoey.blogspot.com/
http://erraticwisdom.com/
http://flickfilosopher.com/geekphilosophy/

I've only just started blogging, but based on people I admire, I'd love links from:

Tom Peters. I love his blog, his cool friends, and that he's the youngest 63 year old on the planet!

Seth Godin. I love the way his mind works and the way he writes.

Dan Pink. I'm all about change and Dan is all about looking for what's coming.

Blogtipping day, June 1. OK... Got it... Hey, if someone makes up a banner for it (or already has), I'll be glad to drop it in right after Towel Day :)

I am thinking of making some banners for my blogs, maybe i will give try making some nice banners for blogtipping day! seems like a nice project. For this I have to start from scratch (installing photoshop or something similar).

and ya.. three links i would like to have (for not so obvious reasons):
1)Seth Godin - I like the bald pic in his blog.
2)Liz - for being so caring.
3)Mike of simplenomics - for speaking his heart - always!

Liz invited us all to come play on your blog too - nice place you've got here :)

You know, while we're dreaming big, I'd like a link from Matt Cutts' blog - preferably on his blogroll, more links from Warren Ellis', and .. hmm, one from Technorati's blog :)

One of these three is not like the others - guess which one? The winner gets an email stamp of their choice, a no-prize in the mail, and probably a kudos for being clever over on my place.

Getting a link from Seth isn't that hard - just be Purple and have someone he knows bring it to his attention. These days the guy's busy, busy, busy, so he doesn't have the time to look at everything that comes his way unless someone he relies on brings it to his attention as something he'd find useful...

Okay, I admit it, I'm lusting after a link from Seth too - who doesn't? But the rules said three :)

Jack: If you get that banner done in time, let me know :)

Everyone: Thanks for visiting. It really is amazing :)

Liz: Thanks for the S.O.B. thingy. Everyone who knows me already knew it, and most readers probably suspected it, and now you go and confirm it... Oh wait... You had a different meaning for S.O.B.?!?! ;) It's an honor :)

Hold the phone - I've got a great little graphic on its way, should be available very soon and certainly free to all blogtippers. Look for it at BusinessBlogWire. Blogtipping (or blog tipping, whichever) is meant to be fun and also fruitful for the tipper and the tippee alike. I hope the button captures that sense a bit.

Awesome! I'll keep an eye out for it :)

Okay Øystein,
I'll take a try . . . Technorati is a team blog for an index and search engine -- not a person. That's what makes it different from the others.

smiles,
Liz

That's an ..interesting... guess. Not what I had in mind, but from the information given it's a valid answer.

Want to leave the contest open a little while longer, while we're playing around in Wintermute's back yard?

Feel free to leave it open as long as you like :)

Heh, cool - are you up for taking a stab at it yourself?

Just look at the exiting no-prize over here ->

Go on, give it a shot - I know you want it.

I have absolutely no idea, so I'll let someone else try...

Liz tries again.

WARREN ELLIS IS NOT AMERICAN.

Closer, but not quite it. You'd have a better shot at getting it right if you'd remembered some of my earlier posts over on my blog :)
